MLK Jr bust & downtown wet street scene: Greensboro, NC
The picture has little–but surely something–to do with the journal entry which follows: Tonight we met with some friends who'd been to Sikkim, near Nepal, for two weeks helping with the Taktse International School. Pinzo (sp?) and his brother Aka are highly intelligent young men who have lives of purpose, dedicated toward helping with the ongoing model teaching efforts in Sikkim. These are folks who have a "life of significant soil," who are making a substantial difference in the evolution of our species.

More images like first entry taken this past March (Leica D-LUX 3 and Canon EOS 5D MkII). My friend Brenda Councill likes these, so they must pass muster.
“Blue Ridgeanglow”
The warm (pink-red-orange) early morning light reflected off the tops of Alpine mountains is known as "Alpenglow." The late photographer and mountain climber Galen Rowell, for instance, wrote about the phenomenon. The image here, taken right after sunrise this morning on 321 close to Blowing Rock, while hardly remarkable, is an instance of the same phenomenon in the Blue Ridge.
